The time is right

As part of the preparation for the Visit Banbury kick off meeting, I decided to try to map all of the main influencers on Visit Banbury as a project and I came up with a first draft.

I subsequently realised I had omitted the growing creative and arts quarter in Banbury Old Town, the numerous free family events run by Banbury Town Council and the interesting new developments at St Mary’s Church as it is reinvented as an additional location for arts and culture as well as spiritual wellbeing, so these will be added to the final version for the 1st March.

However, in the meantime I thought I’d share this version just as an example of the range and scope of the really exciting things happening in and around Banbury.

Visit Banbury Competition – “Be Positive About Banbury” Film

VisitBanburyDigitalCompetition Two for “Be Positive About Banbury” week in the run up to the Banbury Positivity Summit – but unlike yesterday’s you need to be super quick to win this one!

We recently spent a day filming in Banbury for the Visit Banbury “Be Positive About Banbury” film which is soon to be aired but there is something missing – YOU!

The only downside was that we only had the film crew for four hours so just could not get round to see everyone we hoped to, so we are now giving you the chance to film or photograph yourself in front of your business, place of work, college or school, a local Banbury landmark, monument or just somewhere you love about Banbury.

We want you to do a fun photo or video selfie and to tweet it to us @visitbanbury with the hashtag #visitbanbury.

The winner will be in the “Be Positive About Banbury” film launching this week!

logoWhat’s more….. Someone else who is positive about Banbury and who has supported the Visit Banbury project since relocating her cookery school to Banbury and opening a fab new Dutch Pancake House, Deli & Café is Ilja Harvey Andrews of Little Amsterdam.

To help Visit Banbury celebrate the lovely people and places in Banbury, Ilja has very kindly offered us an amazing prize of a voucher for Little Amsterdam worth £50 to give away to one lucky tweeter! All you need to do to win is to follow http://www.twitter.com/VisitBanbury and send us a single tweet with a photograph or video selfie by MIDNIGHT ON WEDNESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY (TOMORROW) using the following hashtag: #VisitBanbury

The prize is a £50 voucher to spend on food and drink at Little Amsterdam.

_DSC9524Full details are: Little Amsterdam, 13-14 North Bar Street, Banbury, OX16 0TF. The prize will be valid for use up until the end of March 2015.

No cash alternative is being offered. Only over 18s can use the voucher to purchase alcohol.

All entries received from tweeters who are following @VisitBanbury at midnight on 11th February (TOMORROW) and who have tweeted a reply using #VisitBanbury will be considered.

Any tweets with offensive or abusive language will be disqualified.

The entries will be reviewed on Thursday 12th February and one tweeter will be selected as having sent the best competition entry based on the positivity, humour and creativity of the tweet response.

The judges’ decision is final and the winner will be notified on Thursday 12th February.

By entering the competition you agree for your tweet to be used in the Visit Banbury project in whichever way we see as appropriate (e.g. future promotions and presentations).

A few Ts&Cs: by tweeting us your video or photo selfie you agree to appear in the film and you accept that the Visit Banbury Project becomes the legal owner of all footage.

Filming

Brilliant day filming in Banbury yesterday for the VisitBanbury “Be Positive About Banbury” film.

Thanks to ATS Films (Ben & Kirsty) and Kate from the project team for all of the hard work & support.

I would also like to thank all of the people we met in Banbury for their friendly, positive welcome and their support in our venture.

We all felt a real sense of community and optimism whilst walking around talking to people, which encourages us to really push on with the project.

The only downside was that we only had the film crew for four hours so just could not get round to see everyone we hoped to, but we will try to catch up with everyone to include you.

Just a couple of photos to share…

VisitBanbury – Be Positive About Banbury – the film !

Hi all!

I have recently tweeted you or spoken to you about being ready to be in a film we are making in Banbury tomorrow, Friday 16th Jan., so here are the details….

As part of the VisitBanbury Project, we want to promote the town and everything positive about it and so we are making a short video to be shown initially at an event we are organising on Friday 13th Feb.

It will then be posted to social media platforms across the internet hopefully to get everyone to share it in their networks, as well as being shared with the media, so as many people as possible (both locals and tourists) can see what makes us all happy to call Banbury home.

We have a great upbeat piece of music as the backing track and we are going to be cutting still photos (B&W and colour) in with video footage we take to make a film which goes perfectly with the VisitBanbury logo and branding.

Plus we will be including videos and photos we receive as part of a competition being run over the next week. More details will follow but the winners will get £50 to spend at Little Amsterdam http://littleamsterdam.co Banbury’s very own Dutch Pancake House, Deli and Café.

We are really lucky to have a professional film maker Ben Atkinson of ATS Films http://www.atsfilms.co.uk making the film for us. Ben lived locally until moving to Stratford so he is also positive about the town and the project.

Between 10 and 2 tomorrow we are going to be coming to see your businesses and we want you to get your teams outside for a few minutes to capture you and your business to include in the film. If possible we’ll also capture you in front of a Banbury landmark.

Great FREE publicity for you, your business and Banbury, so please get involved.

We are going to be starting at Pinto Lounge around 10am and so tweet @visitbanbury to confirm you are ready for us to come and film you.

Have fun, big smiles and Be Positive About Banbury !

Thanks
Tim, Kate and Ben from the VisitBanbury Project.
